Product Review: Cave Tools Beer Can Chicken

Okay peeps, do I have a sweet treat for you.  The people at Cave Tools have probably given me a chance to review my favorite product to date.

I got a chance to try and review Cave Tools Beer Can Chicken pan!!  OMG!!!  People this is awesome!!

Beer Can chicken is something I'm sure everyone has hear about.  I'll admit that I always found it to be an intimating thing to try, but thanks to the people at Cave Tools I got a chance to try!!

Cave Tools has a very cool product that is perfect for making Beer Can Chicken.  It is a simple set up that includes a pan, base, "beer can", and additional prongs for corn or potatoes.  You even get a simple instruction sheet, but feel free to go crazy on how you make it!

One thing I love about this product is that you can use it either on the grill or in the oven.  Since I have a super crazy schedule and was trying to multitask, I made this particular chicken in the oven.  Now don't you worry, I will be making another one on the grill soon, but time and the wonderful weather of NEPA we adjusted.  Another thing I like about the Cave Tools Products is that they are so versatile.  Grill or oven and they still make an amazing dinner.  Okay, now back to my review.

I admit that my family thought that I was crazy to want to try this out, but that did not stop me from going all out on this baby!!

Knowing that I was getting this product in the mail to try I did some research on beer can chicken.  OMG!!!  I could not believe how many different recipes there are!  I was truly amazed.  Needless to say I made my own recipe, but it was nice to know I had so many different ones to choose from.

Okay so let's get started!  First thing I needed was a chicken, duh!  I got a very nice chicken from my local Aldi's, and yes I totally LOVE shopping there!!  Next thing I needed was beer, again duh!  Almost all the recipes that I read recommended a light beer and thankfully that is what I had on hand.  For this first time I used a can of Miller Light.  The last thing needed was any spices needed for the chicken.  I turned this over to my hubby.  He has a secret passion for spice mixing so I let me go at it.  All I can say is that is spice mix is a carefully guarded secret so sorry no sharing, but I can tell you to spice up your chicken any way you like!  So many recipes has a variety of different ways to spice the chicken.  This has no specifics on right or wrong.

That being said, let's move on!

You can start by adding about half a can of beer to the "beer can" and secure the top

Make sure your chicken is thoroughly clean and patted dry.   Add and spices or seasonings that you desire and then place your chicken, legs down, over the "beer can".

Now, depending on how you are going to prepare your chicken, grill or oven, make sure you are at the desired temperature.

For our chicken, we made it in the oven, at 375 degrees F for about 1 1/2 hours.  Make sure that you chicken is thoroughly cooked!!

Once complete, carefully remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes.

Now, if you look at the picture above, you can see all that beautiful dripping in the bottom of the pan, DO NOT let them go to waste!!  You can make them into a wonderful homemade gravy that goes amazingly with your beer can chicken!!

This chicken turned out wonderful!!  It was super moist and juicy and much to my surprise did not taste overly like beer.  I will admit that I was really worried about that.  I could not believe how much flavor this chicken had and it was not dry!!  The homemade gravy was a wonderful touch and I needed to add no seasonings to the gravy at all thanks to all the seasonings that were on the chicken.

Dinner was topped off with some simple mashed potatoes and corn that I had shucked and frozen from last year.  All in all a truly wonderful meal!!
